A couple eloping on a motorbike are involved in a crash and the girl dies. The boy is depressed and tries to commit suicide. Sister Brigid talks him round and he is discharged, despite Dr Weatherill’s misgivings. The next day he rides his motorcycle over the cliff to be with his girlfriend.
Meanwhile Dr Ormerod has a patient, Dennis Cording, who seems reluctant to go home to his wife. Matron makes a home visit and finds the home a mess and the wife missing. Later the hospital receptionist finds a vacant Mrs Cording transfixed on the beach steps. When the receptionist returns the next morning the woman hasn’t moved. She is taken to hospital and diagnosed with a thyroid deficiency. Mr & Mrs Cording are reunited.
