Trinity Episcopal Church's congregation was formed in the Hall of Justice in 1873. The original church was located at the corner of Sierra and 2nd Streets just north of the Truckee River. The congregation relocated to this site in 1929 and worshipped in what was known as 'The Crypt' (basement), a common practice for churchgoers until the congregation could save up enough funding to build above ground. Construction on this church began in 1948 and the church was built in the modified English Gothic architecture.
