This is an approximate 1.5 mile round trip. About 1/4 of it is beside a small community in a US National Forest and the rest is along the creek up to the falls. There are a few creek crosings.

There is a 4 mile dirt road drive up to the parking area. It is slow going and rutted at times. Parking is just past the volunteer fire department. Then walk along the road through the community of cabins.
There is a gate at the end of the community officially starting the trail. The trail then gently climbs up the creek. There are many creek crossings, so the trail does have some short downhills and short steep sections to as it crosses the trail.
At the fork follow the signs to the right up to Holy Jim Falls. If you go left, you will start a long set of switchbacks up to the Main Divide Trail.
After the fork, the trail is a little narrower (mountain bikes don't come up this way). The creek crossings are steeper and portions of the trail are somewhat slippery. The foliage makes tunnes at times.
The trail ends at Holy Jim Falls. There is enough room to stop and have a rest. It is also a good place to cool off.
The lower portion of the trail is well maintained by a local mountain bike club, so expect to find some along the trail. Poison oak is abundant on the trail.
