Smokey bear signs can be found in many locations throughout the state. Due to the frequent high wind conditions in Oklahoma, the threat of fire is always in mind.
This sign stands at the northwest corner of Carl Hubbell Blvd.and N. Koonce on the east side of the downtown area. This is a rural town of approximately 1100 people. The sign stands curbside in front of the Meeker town hall and fire department.
The sign shows a standing Smokey, with his shovel and the words: FIRE DANGER HIGH TODAY! PREVENT WILDFIRES". The word "HIGH" can be changed to reflect the current conditions of rainfall and winds.
