The original bank at 285 Ouellette Ave., at University Ave. was the former Imperial Bank. The Imperial Bank, merged with the Bank of Commerce in 1961, to form the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC).
The bank was designed by architect Charles Cobb and was built in 1920. After the CIBC moved to a new location the building sat empty for years, but because of it's heritage designation it remains unaltered from it's original state. It is now used as a trendy nightclub appropriately named "The Bank Nightklub" (visit link)
