This cast iron cannon was likely one of forty-two "12-pounder" cannons from Fort Prince of Wales on Hudson Bay near present day Churchill, Manitoba.
The Fort was built by the Hudson's Bay Company between 1731 and 1772 to protect the interests of the English fur trade in the New World.
In 1782, the Fort, manned by 39 non-military personal, was captured by three French warships without a single shot being fired.
