The sign is a metal sculpture which has the name surrounded by a partial wreath, both done in a polished steel. The wreath comes out of the "M" at the beginning of the city name and curves around the end of the word, terminating in what appears to be a head of wheat. The name of the town is sitting on two waves made out of woven metal rods, creating a basket effect. The sign itself is based in a rock planter which has the welcome sign on it.
The town of Meridian was a farming community, half-way between the city of Boise and the town of Nampa, which got its name from sitting on the Boise meridian. The city has grown tremendously in the last few years. Twenty-five years ago, the area where this sign is located was nothing but fields, many of which were wheat.
