Nowadays it's merely a canal, but once upon the time Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem was a moat, built and used as part of the defensive system of the city.

It was under the command of king Rama IV that the digging began. It was in the year of 1851.

Nowadays it's used by the community for several purposes... kids will swim in its waters, people will stroll along its banks... and it's used as an open air sewage, unfortunately.
