Hier im Hafen von Greetsiel sind vier frühere Sturmfluten blau markiert: 1906 waren es 4,96m über NN, 1962 4,84m über NN und auch 1976 und 1973 gab es Sturmfluten. Danach wurde die Hafenmauer von 4,50m auf eine Höhe von 6,00mm über NN angehoben und der Hafen ab 1985 durch den Bau der Leybucht weiter nördlich verlegt, was weitere Überschwemmungen verhindert.

At Greetsiel harbour there are four storm floods marked (blue markers): in 1906 the storm flood was 4,96m above sea level, 1962 4,84mm above and also in 1973 und 1976 there were storm floods. After these floods the embankment in the harbour was increased from 4,5m to 6,0m above sea level (pink markers), which has prevented any new flood. Starting 1985 the harbour was moved far into the North outside from the city so that a new flood is nearly impossible.
