Built by Tilley Raymond who came to Worcester in 1834 and worked as a carpenter. Raymond partnered up with Horatio Tower to become one of the most prominent and active builders in Worcester. The most well known building still existing today is Mechanics Hall, which can be seen from Raymond's house. His son took over the house when Tilley died who served as Worcester Chief of Police. The house was sold to Henry E Whitcomp in 1898, who converted the house to apartments.
