In Greek mythology, Phoebe was one of the twelve children of Uranus and Gaia - the original Titans.

The small Saturn moon Phoebe is named after her.

Phoebe was the first moon in our solar system that was discovered (in 1899) comparing photographic plates. A close flyby by the Cassini Probe in 2004 revealed that Phoebe is more densely covered with impact craters than any other object in the solar system studied so far.

A relief of Phoebe is part of the Gigantomachy Frieze in Berlin's Pergamon Museum.
