Located not far from the "Königsstuhl". The Weltfriedenskreuz (world peace crusifix) was inaugurated 20 September 1980 in a ceremony held by Gotthilf Fischer, choir director of eponymous Fischer choirs, established as a memorial ensuring world peace, given to the Kaiser-Ruprecht-Bruderschaft (Emperor-Ruprecht-brotherhood). The promise given to town Rhens by Gotthilf Fischer that the city would be the location of the annual “Deutschlandtreffens der Fischer-Chöre” was unfortunately not fulfilled by him. As the beams were rotten beyond repair it was recently re-established. The works were awarded to Josef Dillmann Jr., fellow citizen Fred Meurer rescribed and repainted the crossbar with its former original slogan “Frieden sei dieser Welt beschieden” (peace May be granted to this world). On the initiative of the city and with support of Landrat (highest master of a German district) Dr. Alexander Saftig had “Sparkasse Koblenz” supported the cost by a financial grant amounting 3000 Euro, the remaining amount will be paid by the Kaiser-Ruprecht-Bruderschaft. In regard to the official inauguration of this new established world peace-crusifix has the brotherhood the intention to implement this in near future.
