"Kraemer constructed the LRT over 6th Avenue as part of the nine structures for the West Corridor. The West Corridor was the first leg of multi-corridor rapid transit expansion in the Denver metro area. The West Corridor stretches from Denver to Golden, Colorado.

The ballasted light rail bridge carries double track service over the 6th Avenue Freeway. The signature steel arch is the feature bridge of the West Corridor. Multiple approach spans carry the light rail north and south from the Denver Federal Center.

The 600 ton self-weathering steel arch spans 286 feet and is 65 feet tall. Additional features included six approach spans with pre-cast Bulb Tee girders. The basket handled arch was constructed on falsework “off-line” to the south of 6th Avenue. Once constructed, the arch was rolled into place using pushing rams in the rear and heavy transports in the front in a single 36-hour period. Combined with approach spans, the total length of the bridge is 614 feet by 33.3 feet wide." (from (visit link) )

This photo was taken from the above coordinates which is on the shoulder of the eastbound ramp entrance off Simms Street in Lakewood. You could also take photos from the sidewalk on Simms where it goes over 6th Avenue. There is a great view of downtown Denver from this site. The coordinates of the bridge are N39° 43.527. "On the weekend of May 1, 2010, the 286-foot, 600-ton light rail bridge was rolled into place over 6th Avenue as part of the FasTracks West Corridor Project. The highway was opened 30 hours earlier than anticipated. This video was created to show the time lapse of the process." From video of construction found at (visit link) .
