This monument honors the 19th century vice-admiral and commander of the Austrian and Austro-Hungarian Navy William Tegetthoff. In addition to the statue of Tegetthoff, there are other sculptures including this one of a winged woman...apparently representing the Angel of Victory based on the laurel and horn she holds. The woman's carriage is being drawn by a hippocampus..a half horse, half-sea creature.
