The railway station of Tecknau opened in 1916 but the current station building is from the 1970s. The Hauenstein Base line was a shortcut of the old Hauenstein line of the 1850s. The station is located just a few meters off the north entrance of the 8134 meters long tunnel.

The line is one of the busiest in Switzerland today, but Tecknau is just a minor station with one stop every 30 minutes to Basel and Olten each. The station is also connected with a bus line from Gelterkinden to Wenslingen.

Although most stations of that size were abandoned and automatized in the 1980s, Tecknau still has a manned office; it is managed by a self-supporting agency that also offers other services than the ones they sell for the railway line. Tecknau one one of the first railway stations in the country where this outsourcing model was tried.
