After turning the sod in a new field, harrowing would further break down sod and lumps of soil, providing an improved seedbed. Harrows were also used for various other purposes, such as light weeding before the crop emerged, spreading straw in summer fallow or light tillage in summerfallow. This harrow has an adjustment for the depth of the tines, allowing it to accomplish various tasks from sod breaking to light cultivation.

This is one of the many outdoor displays at the museum, for which there is no admission fee required.
