This bridge over the Goat River is the first of many on the Crowsnest Highway as one heads east from Creston. It is about 9 km. east and north from Creston.

1949 would be the year that this section of the Crowsnest Highway was brought to completion, creating a motor route across BC, however circuitous, south of the Trans Canada Highway. Here, at Creston, the eastern section of the Crowsnest connected with the highway which wound its way up the east side of Kootenay Lake, crossed on the ferry at Crawford Bay, and continued west to Nelson and points west.

This is predominantly a steel truss bridge of about 100 metres in total length, having concrete and steel extensions on each end.
