The first written record of the village dates from 1578. It was founded as a settlement around the former glassworks. Stachy were králováckou magistrate, one of eight in the Bohemian Forest. Its inhabitants were subject to the king directly, except for the glass industry is nurtured and trade and manufacture of wooden goods (eg stachovské clogs and shingles).
