On the south end of town, on Highway 395, this Legion Post is encamped in a historic old one-time church and school house.

Prior to 1905, when St. Mary of the Rosary Parish was built, this building served as the church for the parish. After the construction of the church, this building was used as a Catholic School until the construction of St. Mary of the Rosary Parish School in 1926.

Serving this community for 94 years, John V. Folsom Post 54 was chartered on October 19, 1919. The first-ever meeting of local WWI veterans was held 6 days earlier. Their Thursday night Bingo is run to finance a scholarship fund for local high school seniors. Their Honour Guard annually conducts memorial services at 9 local cemeteries on Memorial Day in honour of all their departed Veterans.

Some of their other programs include:
• Roadside cleanup
• Pictures with Santa at Christmas time
• Pig roast to support their Legion Baseball teams
• Cutting firewood for needy Veterans
• Provides labour for Veteran dinners
• Assisting with Honour Flight benefit dinner
