This Time-Temp sign is part of Zip's sign out front of the burger palace on the east side of Highway 395, at the extreme south end of Colville. Time was 10:29 am with a temperature of 47°
The first Zip's opened in Kennewick Washington in 1953, and the rest is history. There really was a guy named “Zip.” Robert “Zip” Zuber built his first Zip’s Drive-in with the motto “Thrift and Swift”, wisely figuring to serve the workers, scientists, and their families coming to the Tri-Cities to work in the new nuclear industry.
