This Cemetery is on the south side of Jose M Cantu Road, 1300 feet west of Rio Rico Road (FM 491) just south of Mercedes in Hidalgo County, Texas.

The Texas Historical Commission (visit link) lists this cemetery as Ebony Grove Cemetery with an alternate name of Mercedes Cemetery and say the burial dates are 1876 to present. It contains about 2000 graves.

The Texas Historical Marker here (visit link) says the cemetery was established in 1922. "Among the earliest marked graves are those of siblings Maude Evans (d. 1876) and Eugene E. Evans, Jr. (d. 1881), whose remains were reinterred from another cemetery."
