The marking of the Millennium was made by installing a carved commemorative stone above the Wye Crown to celebrate Wye’s long history between the local College and Wye. The stone, carved by Michael Rust of Hastingleigh and serves as an orientation table and indicates the direction of key places in Wye’s history. It also displays the arms of Cardinal John Kempe, the original founder of the College, together with the inscription Floreat Wye (‘may Wye flourish’). The stone was unveiled in June 2000.

Arrows point to places such as Dover, Canterbury, Oxford, Winchester and Hastings, York as well as several oother loctions.

Artist / Creator: Michael Rust of Hastingleigh Date of creation: June 2000 Location / Access: On top of the North Downs, North of the village of Wye, From the church in he village, follow the North Downs Way markers which will lead you to the stone. The walk is uphill and should take 45 minutes
