This monument stands next to French John Road in the Owyhee mountains. It is a monument which tells the manner of death and the location of death. The actual site is accessible due to the ruggedness of the terrain.

The monument is of sandstone and has seen better days. It stands just off of French John Road on the way to French John Peak. The portion with the name on it is currently missing. The manner, date and location of the death is listed. I believe the body was left where it was due to the rugged terrain.
The monument states "VICTIM OF VIOLENCE, MAR 12 1885, GRAVE 1/4 M. E. IN DRAW.
The top part of the marker has broken off. Looking at the pieces, it is hart to tell if there ever was a name on the marker. It is evident they made some decorative marks on the top of the stone.
