Northwestern Pacific Caboose #11 was one of the first four cabooses purchased by Northwestern Pacific from the Standard Steel Car Company in 1909. Two of the original four cabooses have been disassembled, and the other surviving caboose (NWP no. 13) has been restored and is owned by Roots of Motive Power in Willits, Calif.
Caboose No. 11 traveled for years on the line between San Francisco and Eureka. By the late 1960s most of the wooden cabooses had been retired, although a handful would remain until final elimination in 1971.
After being retired from NWP service, Caboose No. 11 spent thirty years as the shipping office for the Eel River Sawmills.  In 2006 it was donated to the Depot Museum by the Noble family, in memory of Mary Snell Noble. Restoration work has included replacement of damaged glass, painting the ice box doors, re-installing the antique restroom fixtures, interior and exterior painting, and installing interior trim.
