"Bob Bugatto was an active leader in California fishing industry for over 40 year. After his service in World War II, as a merchant seaman on an ammunition supply ship, he began a small wholesale fish company in San Francisco in 1948. During hi long career his business grew to include boats, processing plants and canneries for fish, shrimp and crabs from the Gulf of Mexico to Alaska. Today, California Shellfish Company, and its affiliates provide seafood products for domestic and foreign markets world wide. Bob bough salmon, crab and other fish from the Tides Wharf for many years before he acquired it in 1980. His original reason for buying the wharf was the fish dock, but along with it came the Tides Restaurant, Fish Market, gift shop and a small motel, all in need of repair. The Inn at the Tides and this building gre from the need to replace the old buildings and increase visitors interest in Bodega Bay. They are all part of the legacy of a life filled with creative energy."
