George S. Cook is laid to rest in Rush Springs Cemetery. His pink granite marker is engraved simply:

George S. Cook
1871 - 1975

* The Barnum & Bailey circus debuted when George was ten. I wonder whether he ever got to see it.
* He was 20, in 1891, when the first great train robbery was pulled off by the Dalton Gang.
* When George turned 40, the first U.S. photograph taken from an airplane occurred, over San Diego.
* George was 50 when Afghanistan achieved its sovereignty from British control.
* In 1946, a U.S. rocket left the earth's atmosphere for the first time, when George was 75.
* George turned 100 the year All in the Family premiered and presented us with the first toilet flush on TV.
* Margaret Thatcher was elected leader of the British Conservative Party the year George passed away.
