Or possibly they just like the view. What we have here are three animals, an Owl, a Coyote and a Deer, all known for their navigational abilities. Done in bronze, and very well done, at that, the owl stands atop the coyote, atop the deer, each looking in a different direction. Perhaps they're covering each others' backs. Look closely at the deer and you'll see that it is covered with several colored bas relief sculptures.

All are standing atop a steel gusseted wood platform about 12 feet in height outside the entrance to the Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture in Spokane. The work was done by Brad Rude, a semi local artist born in Montana who has spent most of his life in Walla Walla, WA. It was placed in 2009, a gift to the museum by Scott & Betty Lukins & Family.

This is just one of many fine works of art to be found at the museum, both inside and out.
