A 1 1/2"bronze disk stamped "City of "SLO GPS 4" epoxied to a rock near the top of San Luis Mountain. San Luis Mountain is often referred to as Madonna Mountain as it is located near the Madonna Inn. There is a trail head with parking at the intersection of Fernandez Rd and Marsh St near the hwy 101 Marsh St exit. The mountain is also accessible from Laguna Lake Park. Begin at the off leash dog area located at the end of the park access road. follow the trail NW through the open space area parallel to the power lines for .6 miles until you reach a fence. Proceed to the right up hill for about .4 miles. Go through the gap in the fence near some hanging section of white plastic pipe and proceed north on about 300 feet. This path will take you to the main path. Turn left and continue about 1.25 miles to the summit. This trail is dog friendly but keep them on a lease so they don't bother the cows and horses.
