As the Oregon Trail crossed over a ridge, the emigrants were treated to a view of the Boise River valley far below. Emerging from the mountains to the east, the river was lined with cottonwood trees and the valley filled with lush grasses. Trail ruts can be seen approaching the interpretive site and heading down from the ridge towards the river.
