A small sign at a sandstone rockpile grave indicates that this is the burial site of William Hail, a young boy who died in this area in 1863. Caddo Cemetery later evolved around this initial gravesite.

The sign says:

William Hail, 9 years old, died in 1863 while passing through this area with his family. A settler provided this gravesite. This was the first burial in what eventually became Caddo Cemetery.

Caddo Cemetery is located 2.8 miles from the center of Joshua, TX, on the east side of FM 1902, .9 miles north of its intersection with FM 917.
