Gary R. Carden, 63, Galveston, passed away at 11:50 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, at Caring Hands Health Care Center, Peru. He was born Aug. 6, 1944, in Long Beach, Calif., to James T. and Helen (Lamb) Carden. On June 25, 1970, in Kokomo, he married Sharon (Thomas) Carden.

Gary was a pipefitter by trade and member of Local 440 Indianapolis and served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He was a member of Galveston First Baptist Church, American Legion Post 415, Galveston, and a life member of the VFW. He enjoyed music and especially fishing. He was very involved with the Jim “Moose” Carden Kids Fishing Clinic.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Carden, Galveston; son, C. Ty and Julie Carden, Galveston; daughter, Layne Carden, Galveston; granddaughters, Micah Carden, Galveston, and Loran Kemp, Kokomo; grandsons, Ethan and Garrett Zell, Galveston, and Taylor Carden, Galveston; four brothers, Jim and Linda Carden, Galveston, Joe and Jackie Carden, Logansport, Craig and Sandy Carden, Kokomo, and Chuck and Mary Carden, Kokomo; four sisters, Sharon and Bob Yockey, Galveston, Vickie and Dick Village, Longwood, Fla., Connie and Bobbie Jones, Galveston, and Diane Turner, Galveston; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Jim “Moose” Carden Kids Fishing Clinic.
