This impressive building can be seen from afar no matter which direction you are traveling. The unique building is an architectural delight and the museum itself is a fun and educational outing.
Originally the Hewitt School, the building was built in 1910 at a cost of $10,000. It was retired as a school in 1981 and a few years later became a museum. In 2006 it was entered into the National Register of Historic Places. The museum focuses on preserving and documenting the history of Hewitt and Stowe Prairie Township. Each room in the museum features a theme and exhibit such as kitchen, church, school etc.
A Legacy Grant was awarded to help repair the roof of the school.
