This church is only open Sunday afternoons or by appointment during the summer months and is now an historic site rather than an active church. However, it is a very significant church because it is the site of the grave of one of Canada's most important painters, Tom Thompson. Thompson painted with 5 members of the Group that would be called the Group of Seven up to his premature death in 1907. Although the Group was established formally after his death, his work is invariable considered to be a part of the legacy,
