This station is also known as Station #1 and is the main station and headquarters of Sooke Fire Rescue.

An information board in front of Station #2 gives the following history of the fire department:
First established in 1905, the Sooke Harbour Fire Department began with a few men, a handful of tools and some hose. By 1910, the first real piece of fire apparatus was obtained when the Victoria Pipe Company (then building the flow-line to Victoria) donated a two-wheeled hose cart to the fire department. This was originally stored in a small shed near the corner of Sooke Road and Murray Road. A new station was established in the 1940s near the intersection of Sooke Road and Church Road. It houses the hose reel and a fire truck made from a converted Hudson Touring Car. By 1958 more space was needed and a new three bay fire station was constructed. This building housed two fire engines and an ambulance. By the late 1960s the old fire trucks were showing their age. Two brand new fire engines were purchases from Thibault Fire Engines and placed into service in 1970. In the early 1980's, the community grew large enough to warrant the construction of a second fire station to serve the areas east of the Sooke River Bridge. This piece of land was purchased from BC Hydro and in 1983, Station #2 was officially opened. A new facility was required by the 1990s as the community and department were outgrowing the old Fire Station #1. Property was purchased on Otter Point Road and a combination fire station and Capital Regional District office building was constructed in 1997. This six-bay, 14,000 square foot fire station is the headquarters of the department. With the incorporation of Sooke as a municipality in 1999, the CRD portion of the building became the Municipal Hall and Council Chambers.
