"It is dominated by the church of San Felice in Piazza , which derives its name from the curious name of " village " (as they were called agglomerations of buildings that stood outside the city walls in the Middle Ages ) that extended from the church of Santa Felicita , along the ' today via Guicciardini , to the square of San Felice , Borgo di Piazza.
More than a real square today is a cross which stands on one of the columns of Florence by Cosimo I placed in remembrance of the Battle of Marciano - Scannagallo ( 1554 ) , which acts as a divider between Roman road , Via Maggio , via mallet and the flow of traffic coming from Piazza Pitti . Column was originally planned the placement of a statue of peace."
