The Allegheny Observatory has 3 telescopes, a 30 inch Thaw Refractor, a 30 inch Keeler Memorial Reflector, and a 13 inch Fitz-Clark Refractor. The observatory is used for astronomy classes at Pitt and in engaged is research involving stellar parallax and searching for planets in other stellar systems.
