The name means literally, “gold town,” but it was also once the home of a large tomato cannery. The title of Tomato Queen was quite the honor in these parts. A photo of her royal highness, Kathleen Prince, Tomato Queen of 1925, is part of an extensive archival collection housed in the museum. The rich and colorful history (red of course) of this area is beautifully captured in the artifacts and images displayed in the museum. Like many of the small museums throughout rural Washington, this is a superb cultural find in a scenic American town.

The depot was built in 1907 and was used by the Great Northern Railroad. The depot was moved from it's original location and saved for the use as a museum and community hall.
