After a devastating fire that destroyed most of downtown Conroe on Feb. 21, 1911, the property on which the Madeley Building was constructed was sold to brothers Albert A. and Daniel A. Madeley for $400.
The building was home to a cleaning business, a dress shop and many more retail establishments before becoming the phone company.
The renovated structure is now home to the Conroe Art League.
