Willamette Mission State Park - Marion County, Oregon - State/Provincial Parks on Waymarking.com

Located on the east bank of the Willamette River four miles of north of Keizer, Willamette Mission Park contains 1,680 acres. It was the site of the Methodist Mission in Oregon, established by the Reverend Jason Lee in 1834. The site now includes three "ghost buildings" that show the outline and orientation of the original mission buildings.

Another notable landmark is the Willamette Mission Cottonwood, the largest black cottonwood tree in the United States that is more than 250 years old. The park includes four miles of bicycle-pedestrian paths, a 2 1/2 mile self-guided educational trail, horseback riding trails, fishing opportunities and reservable picnic areas with volleyball courts and horseshoe pits.
