The church was originally built in 1119. It belongs to the monks of Montmajour and is then known under the name of St. Anthony which, from 1491, it houses the relics preserved in the abbey until then.
It was rebuilt in the seventeenth century, in the midst of Counter-"Reformation, led by the archbishop of the city, Francois Adhemar de Monteil de Grignan, who laid the first stone in 1662, at the edge of the area and Cavalry that of the city, where many nobles and bourgeois enriched by trade and farm income individuals and build lavish homes hotels. But the work dragged because the church is only half built in 1676.
Looted during the Revolution, the church suffers more Allied bombing in August 1944 which left her almost in ruins. Now restored, it is now closed to worship but serves as a hall for performances, concerts and exhibitions which are held frequently.
Property of the city of Arles, the church was listed as a historic monument August 7, 1941."
