This Occupational Monument is inside the Visitor Information Center located in the Sheridan Rest Area at 1514 E 5th Street on the east side of Interstate Highway 90 Exit 23 in Sheridan, Wyoming.

Coal Miner Memorial

Sculpted by John Kuchera

Coal Miner is a life sized detailed sculpture representing the underground coal miner. Purchased by United Mine Workers of America and Monarch Mine employees, it was donated to the Wyoming Highway Department to be displayed at their Tourist Information Center museum. The sculpture was dedicated on June 24, 1973. This sculpture is a memorial to coal miners, past and present.
