On the campus of Alex public schools, in front of the school auditorium, a pillar of donated bricks has an old school bell atop, and is dedicated to Worth Dickey (5/14/1914 - 9/14/1977). Mr. Dickey taught school at Alex for forty years (1936 - 1976) and was a grade school, junior and senior high school principal for twelve years. His bronze plaque reads:
