Don’t Look…Listen was featured in the Castlegar Sculpture Walk in 2012 and is now on permanent display at the Visitor's Center.

When we first saw Don't Look…Listen, last year, I liked it and hoped that is it would find a home in Castlegar. It is thought provoking, wondering what is behind door number 2.

Jacob Tolmie used 12 reclaimed steel doors and painted them using primary colors. It stands an impressive 20' tall and towers on the horizon. It is Post-Modern in style with alternating red, blue, green and yellow that provides vibrancy and uniformity. All doors are closed with the exception of the red door at the top of the sculpture.

The plan of the City of Castlegar is to reclaim the area where the sculpture is displayed into a beautiful park for visitors to use as a rest area. There are currently two picnic tables, grass and flowerbeds will be added in the near future.

We learned that Don't Look…Listen was going to be at the Visitor's Center so we went by to Waymark it. We found it on the ground, thinking that it just had not been placed yet. However, we learned later that it was installed but due to severe windstorms it became unstable and was placed were we found it. Civil engineers were called to design a supporting structure to ensure the sculpture remains secure.

When in Castlegar visit this sculpute as well as the new sculptures on display throughout the city.

Stop in at the Visitor's Center and say hi to Susan.
