At the 'Altmühlsee', a lake in Bayern, Germany is a huge area reserved to protect birds. It is called 'Vogelinsel' (Bird's Island). It's a fantastic place to watch birds.
The protected area has a size of more than 200 hectars. This is 2/5 of the area of the lake. It consists of countless individual islands. Some of those islands can be accessed. There are bridges between them.
The huge lake and also the islands have been built 1976-1985.
There are about 210 different kinds of birds.
A watch tower is placed at a good location to watch the birds. This is where the coordinates have been taken.
