The lookout has two picnic tables & a safety fence. There are views over the Hume Highway far below, the Blue Mountains, Katoomba (night), the Nattai River wilderness, Mt Jellore & on the horizon to the north east, Sydney's CBD skyline which is best viewed at night. During Spring waratahs, NSW's state emblem flower, can be seen along the fire trail. There are several walking tracks branching out from Lake Alexandra but these may be blocked by fallen trees particularly after storms. It would be best to drive to the parking area & walk up the fire trail. It is a steep 500 metre (1640 feet) walk on a gravel track but the views are worth the effort.
A sign at the lookout indicates there is a platform there but this is not the case. I just stand on the rocks or have a seat to take in the views.
The road to the parking area (S34 26.576 E150 27.227) is steep but sealed. The last few metres are heavily eroded so take care if you have a low clearance vehicle.
