Originally the segment of Arkanas road that connected Missouri route 37 with US-62 was part of AR-47, which ran along with US-62 from Rogers, AR through Avoca, Garfield, and Gateway, turned off of US-62 and ended at the Missouri line. Even though there is a different AR-37 (
from McCrory to Cord), Arkansas decided to truncate off the rest of the AR-47 designated road (leaving it just the US route 62), and renumber this very short segment of the old AR-47 to match Missouri's numbering system.
