This plaque is in the upstairs museum portion of Fanueil Hall.
It reads:
"1822-1922
In This Hall on May 1, 1822
BOSTON WAS ORGANIZED
AS A CITY
This tablet commemorates
the one hundredth anniversary of the event."
Boston is the capital and largest city in Massachusetts and of course played a significant role during the Revolutionary War. Fanueil Hall itself was the site of many of Samuel Adams' speeches urging independence...and thus this is an important site along the Freedom Trail linking this to another 16 important Revolution sites.
Wikipedia gives a different date, March 4, 1822, than this tablet for the City's incorporation.
