WFIE is an affiliate of NBC located in Evansville, IN. It is on the west side of town on Mt Auburn Rd near Buchanan Rd.
WFIE began as a broadcast company in 1953. It was the 6th television station in the state of Indiana and it was owned by the Fine family.
The station has never changed primary affiliates, the only station in Evansville that can make that claim. It is also the longest tenured NBC affiliate in the whole state of Indiana, beating out WISE in Fort Wayne by only 6 days. In 1956, it became the first station in the area that broadcast in color.
Currently, the station runs a total of 32 hours of local news every week and has one of the best news departments in the midwest.
