This iron sculpture, created after the terrorist attacks in New York City invokes the imagery similar to what we have come to recognize as the coming together of Americans after this tragic event. The sculpture itself, is an artistic series of hands (with forearms), grasping at a pole, holding up a ripped and battered American Flag. There are other hands that are holding up and holding onto each other; expressing support and teamwork that was evident after the event. It is attached to a white stone pedestal. On the front of the pedestal is a bronze plaque, with a note from the artist, in English on the left side and Italian on the right, which reads:
Amor di Patria
As a reminder of September 11th
this sculpture wants to express the
strong feeling of pain following the
sad event of September 11th, 2001. It is
also message of hope for a future of
peace among all the people of the
world. I devote the sculpture with
consideration and respect to the
victims of the attack and to the
Americans.

About the artist and this art piece:
"I am a sculptor works in iron, witnessed the events of our times. The sculptures I create are an expression of moods, feelings, of emotions arising from events commonly social, spanning sport, touch politics, reveals the everyday life.
My first contact with art began in the workshop of my father, in a picturesque district of Rome "Borgo Pio" where I acquired the ability to work metals, enthusiastically learned useful techniques to transform and assemble materials apparently so cold, so little ductile. The subjects which embody the expressive power of my sculptures are the hands, one of the most instinctive of our bodies, tool I use to their communicative power. I fascinated by the ability to symbolize that any emotion triggered by a particular event. The hands represent the characteristic of the personal artistic symbolism that distinguishes me.
My lively interest in the fusion of metals, the combination of bronze, gold, steel and copper, carried me to a sweeping sculptural vocation mainly instinctive. Attending the school of master Oliviero Leonardi was accentuated even more imbued with a rich artistic production of emotional creativity.
What I hope to be able to feel every time I finish a sculpture is a profound moral gratification to be able to convey emotion in those who captures the essence of its symbolism, to be able to immortalize the memory of many people an event, even if painful, as was for "love of country", a work which I have given to Americans as my personal thoughts of sympathy for the tragedy of September 11, 2001.
The sculpture that I decided to donate to JFK Airport New York, I was gratified morally so invaluable to the emotion, interest and the silent respect shown by the people who stopped to look at her, to "Hear"." (
