Le 13 septembre 1944 de durs combats opposérent la 2eme DB a la 112 eme panzerbrigade allemande c'est en s'opposant a ceux-ci que le sherman Champagne du 12 Régiment de Chasseurs d'Afrique commandé par l'aspirant Niveau fut touché par deux obus qui l'incendièrenttuant ses occupants
